5	5	WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of J. B.
6	6	Lowry of Paris, Texas, who passed away on December 26, 2008, at the
7	7	age of 81; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born to Clovis and Inis Campbell Lowry on October
9	9	15, 1927, J. B. Lowry grew up in Mount Vernon, where he lived until
10	10	he answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted in the U.S. Navy;
11	11	while stationed in California, he met and married the former Cletta
12	12	Bates, with whom he raised four children and shared 61 fulfilling
13	13	years of matrimony; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Mr. Lowry returned to Mount Vernon after his naval
15	15	service and worked a series of odd jobs before beginning work as a
16	16	salesman for a local Chevrolet dealership in 1949; some two decades
17	17	later, he moved his family to Paris and opened Lowry Chevrolet,
18	18	which he owned and operated for 38 years; and
19	19	WHEREAS, In addition to being a successful businessman, Mr.
20	20	Lowry was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and a winner of
21	21	numerous accolades for his community involvement; he was named the
22	22	1995 Citizen of the Year by the Paris Police Department, received
23	23	the Paul Harris Fellowship and the 2006-2007 Lion of the Year Awards
24	24	for his service to the Paris Noon Lions Club, and he earned a
25	25	Lifetime Membership award from the Lamar County Crime Stoppers in
26	26	2002 for his active participation; he was also a past Master of
27	27	Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 691 and current Worthy Patron of
28	28	Paris Chapter No. 5 Order of the Eastern Star; moreover, this
29	29	esteemed Texan was selected for the Boys and Girls Club of Red River
30	30	Valley Wall of Honor in 2005; and
31	31	WHEREAS, J. B. Lowry touched the lives of countless people
32	32	during his years on this earth, and memories of him will forever
33	33	hold a treasured place in the hearts of his loved ones; now,
34	34	therefore, be it
35	35	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
36	36	hereby pay tribute to the life of J. B. Lowry and extend sincere
37	37	sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Cletta Lowry; to
38	38	his children, Tina Anderson and her husband, Mike, Tim Lowry and his
39	39	wife, De, Gina Lowry and her husband, Chris Morphis, and Mark Lowry;
40	40	to his grandchildren, Christi George and her husband, Aaron,
41	41	Elizabeth Carter and her husband, Jay, Stephanie Kirk and her
42	42	husband, Kendal, Catherine Peralta and her husband, Jose, John
43	43	Lowry and his wife, Adrianne, Jason Burress, Amanda Wilhite, and
44	44	Letta Hines; to his 11 great-grandchildren; and to his other
45	45	relatives and many friends; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
47	47	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
48	48	Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
49	49	J. B. Lowry.
