 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of J. B.
 Lowry of Paris, Texas, who passed away on December 26, 2008, at the
 age of 81; and
 WHEREAS, Born to Clovis and Inis Campbell Lowry on October
 15, 1927, J. B. Lowry grew up in Mount Vernon, where he lived until
 he answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted in the U.S. Navy;
 while stationed in California, he met and married the former Cletta
 Bates, with whom he raised four children and shared 61 fulfilling
 years of matrimony; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Lowry returned to Mount Vernon after his naval
 service and worked a series of odd jobs before beginning work as a
 salesman for a local Chevrolet dealership in 1949; some two decades
 later, he moved his family to Paris and opened Lowry Chevrolet,
 which he owned and operated for 38 years; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to being a successful businessman, Mr.
 Lowry was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and a winner of
 numerous accolades for his community involvement; he was named the
 1995 Citizen of the Year by the Paris Police Department, received
 the Paul Harris Fellowship and the 2006-2007 Lion of the Year Awards
 for his service to the Paris Noon Lions Club, and he earned a
 Lifetime Membership award from the Lamar County Crime Stoppers in
 2002 for his active participation; he was also a past Master of
 Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 691 and current Worthy Patron of
 Paris Chapter No. 5 Order of the Eastern Star; moreover, this
 esteemed Texan was selected for the Boys and Girls Club of Red River
 Valley Wall of Honor in 2005; and
 WHEREAS, J. B. Lowry touched the lives of countless people
 during his years on this earth, and memories of him will forever
 hold a treasured place in the hearts of his loved ones; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby pay tribute to the life of J. B. Lowry and extend sincere
 sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Cletta Lowry; to
 his children, Tina Anderson and her husband, Mike, Tim Lowry and his
 wife, De, Gina Lowry and her husband, Chris Morphis, and Mark Lowry;
 to his grandchildren, Christi George and her husband, Aaron,
 Elizabeth Carter and her husband, Jay, Stephanie Kirk and her
 husband, Kendal, Catherine Peralta and her husband, Jose, John
 Lowry and his wife, Adrianne, Jason Burress, Amanda Wilhite, and
 Letta Hines; to his 11 great-grandchildren; and to his other
 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
 J. B. Lowry.
