44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Residents of the Pattonville area lost a beloved
66 neighbor and friend with the death of Meredith G. Harper on April
77 21, 2009, at the age of 66; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Jefferson and Lillie Harper, Meredith
99 Harper was born in Slaton on April 19, 1943; he was a farmer and
1010 rancher and worked for the United States Department of Agriculture
1111 as a crop adjuster; in addition, he was a member of First Baptist
1212 Church in Paris, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school
1313 teacher; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Harper was married to the former Fay Turner, and
1515 the couple welcomed two children into their family, a daughter,
1616 Cherl, and a son, Jeffrey; and
1717 WHEREAS, Meredith Harper lived a caring and purposeful life,
1818 and he will long be remembered with admiration and affection by all
1919 those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
2020 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
2121 hereby pay tribute to the memory of Meredith G. Harper and extend
2222 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Fay
2323 Turner Harper; to his daughter, Cherl Harper Byles and her husband,
2424 Bruce; to his grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Byles; to his
2525 mother, Lillie Gentry Harper; to his sister, Carolyn Tefertiller
2626 and her husband, Duane; to his brother, Glen Harper; and to his
2727 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3030 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
3131 Meredith Harper.
