| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Residents of the Pattonville area lost a beloved |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | neighbor and friend with the death of Meredith G. Harper on April |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 21, 2009, at the age of 66; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jefferson and Lillie Harper, Meredith |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Harper was born in Slaton on April 19, 1943; he was a farmer and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | rancher and worked for the United States Department of Agriculture |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | as a crop adjuster; in addition, he was a member of First Baptist |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Church in Paris, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | teacher; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Harper was married to the former Fay Turner, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the couple welcomed two children into their family, a daughter, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Cherl, and a son, Jeffrey; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Meredith Harper lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and he will long be remembered with admiration and affection by all |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | hereby pay tribute to the memory of Meredith G. Harper and extend |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Fay |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Turner Harper; to his daughter, Cherl Harper Byles and her husband, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Bruce; to his grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Byles; to his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | mother, Lillie Gentry Harper; to his sister, Carolyn Tefertiller |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and her husband, Duane; to his brother, Glen Harper; and to his |

| 27 | 27 | | other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
