 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, Residents of the Pattonville area lost a beloved
 neighbor and friend with the death of Meredith G. Harper on April
 21, 2009, at the age of 66; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Jefferson and Lillie Harper, Meredith
 Harper was born in Slaton on April 19, 1943; he was a farmer and
 rancher and worked for the United States Department of Agriculture
 as a crop adjuster; in addition, he was a member of First Baptist
 Church in Paris, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school
 teacher; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Harper was married to the former Fay Turner, and
 the couple welcomed two children into their family, a daughter,
 Cherl, and a son, Jeffrey; and
 WHEREAS, Meredith Harper lived a caring and purposeful life,
 and he will long be remembered with admiration and affection by all
 those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby pay tribute to the memory of Meredith G. Harper and extend
 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Fay
 Turner Harper; to his daughter, Cherl Harper Byles and her husband,
 Bruce; to his grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Byles; to his
 mother, Lillie Gentry Harper; to his sister, Carolyn Tefertiller
 and her husband, Duane; to his brother, Glen Harper; and to his
 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
 Meredith Harper.
