55 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Corey J. King, a military
77 instructor at Texas Tech University's Army Reserve Officers'
88 Training Corps, has been named the U.S. Army Cadet Command's Army
99 Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for 2009; and
1010 WHEREAS, Sergeant King was nominated by Cadet Command, the
1111 parent organization of Army ROTC, along with NCO leaders around the
1212 globe, and he participated in tests on a number of military tasks,
1313 including map reading, rifle qualification, and physical
1414 conditioning, to win the honor; and
1515 WHEREAS, A member of the armed forces for 14 years, Sergeant
1616 King has served in several leadership roles in infantry battalions,
1717 earning such awards as the Army Commendation Medal and the Army
1818 Achievement Medal; in addition to his professional endeavors, he
1919 shares his time and talents as an assistant scout master for Boy
2020 Scout Troop 544 in Lubbock; and
2121 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Sergeant King has set the
2222 highest standards of excellence in the execution of his duties, and
2323 he has earned the appreciation of his fellow Texans; now,
2424 therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
2626 hereby congratulate Sergeant First Class Corey J. King on being
2727 named the U.S. Army Cadet Command's Army Noncommissioned Officer of
2828 the Year for 2009 and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2929 continued success; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for Sergeant King as an expression of high regard by the
3232 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
