4	4	HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
5	5	WHEREAS, The life of a devoted mother, grandmother, and
6	6	friend drew to a close with the passing of Ruth Evelyn Burd of
7	7	Paris, Texas, on May 4, 2009, at the age of 87; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born on July 24, 1921, in Howland to George and Laura
9	9	Blankinship McNeal, the former Ruth McNeal grew up in the Paris
10	10	area; she later moved to the Dallas Metroplex and lived there for
11	11	many years before returning to Paris in 2004; throughout her life,
12	12	she took great comfort in her spiritual faith and was a member of
13	13	the Baptist church; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Mrs. Burd was the mother of three daughters, Patsy
15	15	Clark, Donna Jean Perry, and Elizabeth Ann Ables, who preceded her
16	16	mother in death; with the passing years, Mrs. Burd had the good
17	17	fortune to welcome 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a
18	18	great-great-grandchild into her family; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Ruth Burd made a positive difference in the lives of
20	20	many people during her long and purposeful life, and her loved ones
21	21	will forever cherish fond memories of the time they spent in her
22	22	company; now, therefore, be it
23	23	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
24	24	hereby pay tribute to the life of Ruth Evelyn Burd and extend
25	25	sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her children,
26	26	Patsy Clark and her husband, Ray, and Donna Jean Perry and her
27	27	husband, James; to her grandchildren, Elizabeth Williams, Ray Scott
28	28	Clark, Jr., Larry Clark, Linda Glenn, Patti Torres, Michelle
29	29	Zumwalt and her husband, John, Beth Moore, and Scott and Meg Perry;
30	30	to her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild; and to her
31	31	other relatives and friends; and, be it further
32	32	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
33	33	prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
34	34	Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
35	35	Ruth Burd.
