| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, John Kennedy is retiring as city manager of Nassau |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Bay on May 29, 2009, and this occasion offers a fitting opportunity |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to recognize his outstanding service; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Well known as a consensus builder, Mr. Kennedy has |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | been a vital part of Nassau Bay government for more than a decade; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | his attention to such issues as the redevelopment of commercial |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | areas has benefited the long-term future of the city, and he has |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | fostered a strong relationship with the city's developer; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Kennedy has further distinguished himself as a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | dependable and caring leader; during Hurricane Ike, he worked hard |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to maintain the city's quality of life, and he motivated his staff |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | through his example; in addition, he encouraged employees to take |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | time off for their families and wrote a letter each Christmas, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | thanking them for their efforts in behalf of Nassau Bay; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, Mr. Kennedy looks forward to spending |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | more time with his family, including his wife, Brenda, and his |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | grandchildren, to whom he is the beloved "Papa John"; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, John Kennedy has set high standards for public |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | service through his dedication, skill, and professionalism, and his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | myriad contributions to the community will continue to benefit |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | residents in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | hereby congratulate John Kennedy on his retirement as city manager |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of Nassau Bay and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
