H.C.R. No. 242 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, John Kennedy is retiring as city manager of Nassau Bay on May 29, 2009, and this occasion offers a fitting opportunity to recognize his outstanding service; and WHEREAS, Well known as a consensus builder, Mr. Kennedy has been a vital part of Nassau Bay government for more than a decade; his attention to such issues as the redevelopment of commercial areas has benefited the long-term future of the city, and he has fostered a strong relationship with the city's developer; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kennedy has further distinguished himself as a dependable and caring leader; during Hurricane Ike, he worked hard to maintain the city's quality of life, and he motivated his staff through his example; in addition, he encouraged employees to take time off for their families and wrote a letter each Christmas, thanking them for their efforts in behalf of Nassau Bay; and WHEREAS, In retirement, Mr. Kennedy looks forward to spending more time with his family, including his wife, Brenda, and his grandchildren, to whom he is the beloved "Papa John"; and WHEREAS, John Kennedy has set high standards for public service through his dedication, skill, and professionalism, and his myriad contributions to the community will continue to benefit residents in the years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate John Kennedy on his retirement as city manager of Nassau Bay and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Kennedy as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
