5	5	WHEREAS, The death of Shawn A. Edwards of Roxton on May 6,
6	6	2009, at the age of 40, has brought a profound loss to the family and
7	7	friends of this esteemed Texan; and
8	8	WHEREAS, The son of the Reverend John Edwards and Georgia
9	9	Edwards, "Tank" Edwards was born in Burlington, New Jersey, on
10	10	December 13, 1968; a graduate of Greenville High School, he moved to
11	11	Roxton with his family when his father assumed the pastorate of
12	12	Roxton United Methodist Church; and
13	13	WHEREAS, Mr. Edwards married the former Lindsay Barnett in
14	14	Roxton on April 13, 1995; the couple later became the parents of two
15	15	daughters, and he was a devoted husband and father; the family
16	16	attended Calvary Chapel of Paris together, and Mr. Edwards
17	17	expressed his strong faith by serving in the school of ministry and
18	18	as a servant leader; and
19	19	WHEREAS, A metal fabricator and welder by trade, Mr. Edwards
20	20	also loved music and inspired others with his beautiful voice; he
21	21	played the drums and was learning to play the guitar; in addition,
22	22	he was an avid fisherman; his caring nature and fine sense of humor
23	23	endeared him to his many friends; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Shawn Edwards demonstrated a deep commitment to his
25	25	family and his faith, and although he will be deeply missed,
26	26	memories of him will forever endure in the hearts of all those who
27	27	held him dear; now, therefore, be it
28	28	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
29	29	hereby pay tribute to the life of Shawn A. Edwards and extend
30	30	sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Lindsay
31	31	Edwards; to his daughters, Alyssa and Cassi Edwards; to his
32	32	parents, the Reverend John Edwards and Georgia Edwards; to his
33	33	sisters, Kelli Mabe and Kristi Bruce and her husband, Robert; to his
34	34	grandfathers, George Brown and John Edwards; to his aunts, Ruthann
35	35	Taylor and her husband, Scott, and Janet Edwards; to his uncle, Alan
36	36	Brown, and his wife, Sandi; to his nephews, Nick Gallaway and Chase
37	37	Hickman; to his nieces, Amanda Thomas and Hailey Hickman; to his
38	38	mother-in-law, Eileen Hickman; to his brother-in-law and
39	39	sister-in-law, Doug and Angie Hickman; and to his other relatives
40	40	and friends; and, be it further
41	41	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
42	42	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
43	43	Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
44	44	Shawn A. Edwards.
