5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the profound sorrow |

6 | 6 | | felt at the loss of Tye James Parrish, who passed away on May 24, |

7 | 7 | | 2009, at the age of 26; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on June 8, 1982, Tye Parrish graduated from the |
---|
9 | 9 | | Booker T. Washington Academy for the Performing Arts in Dallas and |
---|
10 | 10 | | went on to further his education with a degree in marine engineering |
---|
11 | 11 | | from Texas A&M University at Galveston; he was a platoon leader in |
---|
12 | 12 | | the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps during college and served |
---|
13 | 13 | | as squadron leader, PTO, and drill instructor in the Navy Corps of |
---|
14 | 14 | | Cadets; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Parrish enjoyed a variety of leisure pursuits, |
---|
16 | 16 | | and he was a skilled musician, cyclist, and outdoorsman; he married |
---|
17 | 17 | | his high school sweetheart, the former Sarah Tucker, after his |
---|
18 | 18 | | graduation from Texas A&M, and the couple moved to Hawaii, where Mr. |
---|
19 | 19 | | Parrish performed contract engineering work for the U.S. Air Force; |
---|
20 | 20 | | in addition, he worked for Cisco Systems and Raytheon and was |
---|
21 | 21 | | employed at Technip USA after moving back to Texas; he was a man of |
---|
22 | 22 | | great faith and was a member of St. Rita Parish; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Although his life was far too brief, memories of |
---|
24 | 24 | | this kind and caring young man will forever endure in the hearts of |
---|
25 | 25 | | those who were privileged to share in his love and friendship; now, |
---|
26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |

27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
---|
28 | 28 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Tye James Parrish and extend |
---|
29 | 29 | | sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Sarah |

30 | 30 | | Tucker Parrish; to his parents, Nancy Turner and her husband, |

31 | 31 | | Patrick, and Jeffery Parrish; to his sisters, Madeline Frost and |

32 | 32 | | her husband, Mark, and Abby Turner; to his grandfathers, James |
