H.C.R. No. 33 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Leadership Kerr County, a project of Schreiner University and the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce, is graduating its 24th class in 2009; and WHEREAS, This exceptional nine-month program was established in 1985 to provide opportunities for participants to increase their knowledge of vital public issues, including economic development, social services, education, government, and health care; and WHEREAS, Classes inspire the spirit of activism and provide a diverse membership with personal leadership training, networking opportunities, and instruction from influential figures from both the public and private sectors; and WHEREAS, The program has graduated a number of notable area leaders, including former Kerrville mayor Stephen Fine, former Kerrville councilman David Wampler, county judge Pat Tinley, former county judge Fred Henneke, district court judge Stephen Ables, and former county attorney David Motley; and WHEREAS, The 2009 class includes Cassie Alex, Brenda Bailey, Tammi Clanton-Elmore, Niki Cobb, Jennifer Coleman, Kevin Coleman, Carson Conklin, Jason Davis, Mark Del Toro, Cherl Delgado, Jennifer Farhoudi, Lupe Garcia, Mike Huff, Betty Hughey, Elizabeth Loggie, Brett McDowell, Clint Morris, Benny Pena, Ken Richter, Ginger Roan, Bart Stevens, Joy Thomas, Kristy Vandenberg, Patrick Wilt, Robin Gutierrez, Tim Lidiak, Liz Murray, Vicki Harbor, Joe Piszezor, Cheri' Rue, Amy Armstrong, Rusty Garvin, Kyle Bond, Bill Amerine, Brian Bondy, Todd Bock, and H. A. "Buster" Baldwin; and WHEREAS, Endeavoring to foster a more informed and involved citizenry and to develop new leaders in Kerr County, the program is helping to build a brighter and more promising future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 81st Texas Legislature hereby welcome Leadership Kerr County to the State Capitol and extend to all participants sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Leadership Kerr County as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
