8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Denton County Hurricane Task Force was activated |

9 | 9 | | and deployed to the Gulf Coast on September 13, 2008; participants |

10 | 10 | | included the Denton County Sheriff's Office, Denton County |

11 | 11 | | Emergency Services, the City of Lewisville, the City of Highland |

12 | 12 | | Village, the City of Denton, the City of Little Elm, the City of |
---|
13 | 13 | | Frisco, the City of Carrollton, the City of Pilot Point, the Town of |
---|
14 | 14 | | Double Oak, the Town of Flower Mound, the Town of Coppell, and Lake |

15 | 15 | | Cities; in addition, first responders from the City of The Colony, |
---|
16 | 16 | | the City of Denton, and Denton County deployed early on September 9, |

17 | 17 | | 2008, to help with search and rescue preparation efforts; and |

18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The county further contributed to the state's |
---|
19 | 19 | | request for assistance by welcoming several hundred evacuees to |
---|
20 | 20 | | shelters in Carrollton, Lewisville, Corinth, and Denton, as well as |
---|
21 | 21 | | to three county sites, and Denton Municipal Electric helped with |
---|
22 | 22 | | the restoration of electric power in Liberty; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Many local organizations also gave generously of |
---|
24 | 24 | | their time and resources, among them the Denton County Medical |
---|
25 | 25 | | Reserve Corps, the Denton County Community Emergency Response Team, |
---|
26 | 26 | | the Denton County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, the Denton |
---|
27 | 27 | | County Volunteer Organizations Aiding in Disasters, Camp Copass, |
---|
28 | 28 | | First Baptist Church in Denton, Crosspointe, First Baptist Church |
---|
29 | 29 | | in Lewisville, Village Church, Highland Baptist Church, the Dallas |

30 | 30 | | Area Red Cross--Denton Branch, and the University of North Texas; |

32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Times of great crisis often inspire noble actions, |
