5	5	proposing a constitutional amendment to allow the legislature to
6	6	provide for members of a governing board of an emergency services
7	7	district to serve terms not to exceed four years.
8	8	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
9	9	SECTION 1. Section 30(c), Article XVI, Texas Constitution,
10	10	is amended to read as follows:
11	11	(c) The Legislature may provide that members of the
12	12	governing board of a district or authority created by authority of
13	13	Article III, Section 48-e, Article III, Section 52(b)(1) or (2), or
14	14	Article XVI, Section 59, of this Constitution serve terms not to
15	15	exceed four years.
16	16	SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
17	17	submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 3, 2009.
18	18	The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
19	19	proposition: "The constitutional amendment to provide that elected
20	20	members of the governing boards of emergency services districts may
21	21	serve terms not to exceed four years."
