5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bennie L. Cole is retiring from Randolph Air Force |

6 | 6 | | Base in 2009, drawing to a close a notable career that has spanned |

7 | 7 | | more than four decades; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Cole had |

9 | 9 | | more than 4,000 hours as an aircrew member, including service |
---|
10 | 10 | | aboard the plane of then Vice President Gerald Ford; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Cole's civilian career has included training and |
---|
12 | 12 | | certification as a Baldridge Quality Examiner and an Air Force |
---|
13 | 13 | | Level Examiner; in his latest role as a senior management analyst at |
---|
14 | 14 | | Air Education and Training Command, he has earned the respect and |
---|
15 | 15 | | admiration of his colleagues for his astute leadership and |
---|
16 | 16 | | dedicated service; he has also garnered a number of accolades, |
---|
17 | 17 | | including the Air Force Civilian Award for Valor and the 2007 Air |
---|
18 | 18 | | Force Distinguished Equal Employment Opportunity Award; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, This notable Texan shares his time with a number of |
---|
20 | 20 | | worthwhile civic endeavors; a member of the City of San Antonio MLK |
---|
21 | 21 | | Scholarship Committee, he also serves on the Northside ISD Bond |
---|
22 | 22 | | Committee, the Citizens Bond Oversight Commission, and the Alamo |
---|
23 | 23 | | Community College District Citizens Bond Oversight Committee; he is |
---|
24 | 24 | | a member of the board of the Northside Education Foundation, a group |
---|
25 | 25 | | he served as president from 2001 to 2004 and with which he helped to |
---|
26 | 26 | | raise more than $1 million for the Bunny Jean Raba Endowment Fund; |
---|

28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, His efforts in behalf of his community have earned |

29 | 29 | | him the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the San Antonio Police |

30 | 30 | | Officers Association, the San Antonio Black Achievement Award, and |

31 | 31 | | the Meritorious Service Award for volunteerism from the United |
---|
32 | 32 | | Negro College Fund; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Cole has been supported |
---|
34 | 34 | | by a loving family, including his wife, Edithe, his son, Bennie L. |
---|
35 | 35 | | Cole II, and his grandchildren, Marcus and Eliya; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, The occasion of his retirement presents a fitting |

37 | 37 | | opportunity to recognize Bennie Cole and commend him for his myriad |
---|
38 | 38 | | achievements; now, therefore, be it |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bennie L. Cole on his retirement |
