44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Bennie L. Cole is retiring from Randolph Air Force
66 Base in 2009, drawing to a close a notable career that has spanned
77 more than four decades; and
88 WHEREAS, A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Cole had
99 more than 4,000 hours as an aircrew member, including service
1010 aboard the plane of then Vice President Gerald Ford; and
1111 WHEREAS, Mr. Cole's civilian career has included training and
1212 certification as a Baldridge Quality Examiner and an Air Force
1313 Level Examiner; in his latest role as a senior management analyst at
1414 Air Education and Training Command, he has earned the respect and
1515 admiration of his colleagues for his astute leadership and
1616 dedicated service; he has also garnered a number of accolades,
1717 including the Air Force Civilian Award for Valor and the 2007 Air
1818 Force Distinguished Equal Employment Opportunity Award; and
1919 WHEREAS, This notable Texan shares his time with a number of
2020 worthwhile civic endeavors; a member of the City of San Antonio MLK
2121 Scholarship Committee, he also serves on the Northside ISD Bond
2222 Committee, the Citizens Bond Oversight Commission, and the Alamo
2323 Community College District Citizens Bond Oversight Committee; he is
2424 a member of the board of the Northside Education Foundation, a group
2525 he served as president from 2001 to 2004 and with which he helped to
2626 raise more than $1 million for the Bunny Jean Raba Endowment Fund;
2727 and
2828 WHEREAS, His efforts in behalf of his community have earned
2929 him the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the San Antonio Police
3030 Officers Association, the San Antonio Black Achievement Award, and
3131 the Meritorious Service Award for volunteerism from the United
3232 Negro College Fund; and
3333 WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Cole has been supported
3434 by a loving family, including his wife, Edithe, his son, Bennie L.
3535 Cole II, and his grandchildren, Marcus and Eliya; and
3636 WHEREAS, The occasion of his retirement presents a fitting
3737 opportunity to recognize Bennie Cole and commend him for his myriad
3838 achievements; now, therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
4040 Legislature hereby congratulate Bennie L. Cole on his retirement
4141 from Randolph Air Force Base and extend to him sincere best wishes
4242 for continued happiness; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for Mr. Cole as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4545 House of Representatives.
