 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Bennie L. Cole is retiring from Randolph Air Force
 Base in 2009, drawing to a close a notable career that has spanned
 more than four decades; and
 WHEREAS, A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Cole had
 more than 4,000 hours as an aircrew member, including service
 aboard the plane of then Vice President Gerald Ford; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Cole's civilian career has included training and
 certification as a Baldridge Quality Examiner and an Air Force
 Level Examiner; in his latest role as a senior management analyst at
 Air Education and Training Command, he has earned the respect and
 admiration of his colleagues for his astute leadership and
 dedicated service; he has also garnered a number of accolades,
 including the Air Force Civilian Award for Valor and the 2007 Air
 Force Distinguished Equal Employment Opportunity Award; and
 WHEREAS, This notable Texan shares his time with a number of
 worthwhile civic endeavors; a member of the City of San Antonio MLK
 Scholarship Committee, he also serves on the Northside ISD Bond
 Committee, the Citizens Bond Oversight Commission, and the Alamo
 Community College District Citizens Bond Oversight Committee; he is
 a member of the board of the Northside Education Foundation, a group
 he served as president from 2001 to 2004 and with which he helped to
 raise more than $1 million for the Bunny Jean Raba Endowment Fund;
 and
 WHEREAS, His efforts in behalf of his community have earned
 him the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the San Antonio Police
 Officers Association, the San Antonio Black Achievement Award, and
 the Meritorious Service Award for volunteerism from the United
 Negro College Fund; and
 WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Cole has been supported
 by a loving family, including his wife, Edithe, his son, Bennie L.
 Cole II, and his grandchildren, Marcus and Eliya; and
 WHEREAS, The occasion of his retirement presents a fitting
 opportunity to recognize Bennie Cole and commend him for his myriad
 achievements; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Bennie L. Cole on his retirement
 from Randolph Air Force Base and extend to him sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Cole as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
