5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A quality education is the foundation of future |

6 | 6 | | success, and W. H. Bradfield Elementary School provides students of |

7 | 7 | | the Garland Independent School District with a well-rounded |
---|
8 | 8 | | academic curriculum and opportunities to develop their individual |
---|
9 | 9 | | skills and talents; and |

10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1962, Bradfield was named after the |
---|
11 | 11 | | former city mayor who became its first principal; the school today |
---|
12 | 12 | | has an enrollment of approximately 475 students, who are guided by |
---|
13 | 13 | | the motto "It's not what I've done, it's who I am: I am Bradfield's |
---|
14 | 14 | | best"; each week, a student from every class is chosen as one of |
---|
15 | 15 | | Bradfield's Best as a reward for outstanding behavior combined with |
---|
16 | 16 | | scholarly achievement; the Caught Being Good program also |
---|
17 | 17 | | recognizes children for their efforts; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Principal Mary Johnston leads a dedicated faculty |
---|
19 | 19 | | and staff, whose endeavors are inspired by the Bradfield mission |
---|
20 | 20 | | statement: "Build a positive learning environment, raise |
---|
21 | 21 | | expectations for all, appreciate cultural diversity, develop |
---|
22 | 22 | | responsibility among students, find the best in each child, |
---|
23 | 23 | | instruct at the highest level possible, engage parents and |

24 | 24 | | community as partners, learn through problem-solving, demonstrate |
---|
25 | 25 | | continuing improvement."; and |

26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, For the 2008-2009 school year, Bradfield's theme is |

27 | 27 | | "Speeding to Success," emphasizing the diligence of students as |
---|
28 | 28 | | they strive to master new skills and acquire the knowledge they need |
---|
29 | 29 | | to progress to the next level of achievement; the faculty, staff, |
---|
30 | 30 | | and administrators of Bradfield Elementary can indeed take pride in |
---|
31 | 31 | | this fine institution and its role in preparing children to become |
---|
32 | 32 | | happy and productive citizens of the Lone Star State; now, |

33 | 33 | | therefore, be it |

34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby recognize Bradfield Elementary School in |

36 | 36 | | Garland for its contributions to the community and extend to its |

37 | 37 | | students, teachers, and staff sincere best wishes for continued |
