H.R. No. 1082
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love
and shared experiences, and Bob and Betty Thrasher of Temple
celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on February 6,
2009; and
WHEREAS, Robert M. Thrasher, Sr., and the former Betty Ann
Tapman were joined in matrimony on that special day in 1949, at
First Baptist Church in Rosebud; through the years, they have been
blessed with a treasured family that includes two sons, Robert M.
Thrasher, Jr., and his wife Tammi, and Dr. Michael Tapman Thrasher
and his wife, Patti Jean, as well as two grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Mr. Thrasher enjoyed a
long and rewarding career in automobile sales and owned and
operated his own dealership in Gatesville for a time; Mrs. Thrasher
worked as an area manager in the cosmetics industry for 35 years and
opened specialty boutiques in Gatesville and Temple; she and Mr.
Thrasher are now both retired; and
WHEREAS, This devoted couple have enjoyed six decades of
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Bob and Betty Thrasher on the
occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Thrasher as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
