| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bill Brown of Hempstead has served with distinction |

| 7 | 7 | | as the chair of the state board of directors of the Texas Nursery |

| 8 | 8 | | and Landscape Association; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A trade association that represents all segments of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the green industry in Texas, the TNLA serves growers, landscape |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | contractors, retail nurseries, and allied businesses; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Brown is a Texas native and a summa cum laude |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | graduate of Sam Houston State University; a Texas Certified Nursery |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Professional, he is currently the general manager of Creekside |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Nursery in Hempstead; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In the course of his distinguished 40-year career, |

| 17 | 17 | | Mr. Brown has worked in the landscape horticulture department of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Austin Parks and Recreation Department and for a number of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | wholesale and retail nurseries and landscape companies; in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | addition, his exemplary efforts with the Texas Renaissance Festival |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | have earned him the title of Sir William, Keeper of the King's |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Gardens; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A member of the state board of the TNLA since 1998, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Bill Brown has given generously of his time, energy, and expertise |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to the horticultural profession and to his community, helping to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | ensure the health and beauty of the Texas landscape, and it is most |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fitting to take this opportunity to recognize him for his notable |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby commend Bill Brown for his outstanding service |

| 31 | 31 | | as chair of the board of the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association |

| 32 | 32 | | and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
