 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the loss of Felipe Romo
 Tamez of San Antonio, who died on January 11, 2008, at the age of 65;
 and
 WHEREAS, "Hector" Tamez was born in San Antonio on May 26,
 1942, to Arturo and Velia Tamez; he graduated from Tech High School
 in 1959; and
 WHEREAS, A talented musician, Mr. Tamez played bass in a band
 called the Dell Harts during the early 1960s, performing at dances
 and sock hops; at the high point of the group's career, they opened
 at Municipal Auditorium one night for Freddy Fender and James
 Brown; and
 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Tamez
 joined the U.S. Army in 1967 and served with distinction in the
 Vietnam War; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Tamez was a partner with his brothers in Tamez
 Flooring, a well-known business on the city's west side; over the
 course of nearly 50 years, Mr. Tamez became an expert in every
 aspect of the business, and he proudly passed his knowledge down to
 his son; and
 WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Tamez enjoyed playing pool
 with his wife, Josie, at the West Side VFW hall; and
 WHEREAS, Hector Tamez was a devoted family man and a
 hardworking businessman, and he is deeply missed by those who were
 fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Felipe Romo Tamez and
 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Josephine S. Tamez; to his son, Philip H. Tamez; to his
 daughters, Sandra T. Rodriguez and Barbara E. Tamez; to his
 stepsons, Ray and Damon Rivera; to his mother, Velia T. Tamez; to
 his brothers, Arturo, Humberto, and Efrain Tamez; to his sisters,
 Mary Alice Swift and Grace Reyna; and to his other relatives and
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hector
 Tamez.
