 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Air Force Major
 Christopher Cooper suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of
 this beloved young man on July 21, 2008, at the age of 33; and
 WHEREAS, Major Cooper was one of six people aboard a B-52
 Stratofortress when it crashed off the northwest coast of Guam,
 where the airmen were scheduled to perform a flyover in celebration
 of the country's Liberation Day; Major Cooper was on deployment
 from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Austin, Chris Cooper graduated from
 Massena High School in New York and subsequently earned a
 bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1997;
 later that year, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the
 air force and began to fulfill his longtime dream of becoming a
 pilot; and
 WHEREAS, Major Cooper served tours of duty in Iraq and
 Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star for his work as an air
 force liaison officer with the army in Iraq; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout his life, he touched countless people
 with his kind and caring nature; he was known for his Longhorn pride
 and for his unique sense of humor, which brought smiles to the faces
 of all who knew him; and
 WHEREAS, Through his unwavering dedication to duty, honor,
 and this nation, Christopher Cooper embodied the highest ideals of
 the armed services, and memories of his love and friendship will
 forever be cherished by all those who held him dear; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Air Force Major
 Christopher Cooper and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
 his family: to his father, Mike Cooper; to his brother, Timothy
 Cooper; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Chris
 Cooper.
