H.R. No. 1177
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Michelle A. Cloud of Spring is receiving her doctor
of philosophy degree in educational administration from Prairie
View A&M University in May 2009, and this significant achievement
indeed merits special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Distinguishing herself in her studies and
dissertation research, Ms. Cloud has maintained a 4.0 grade point
average in her Ph.D. course work and draws on a well-rounded
educational background that includes a bachelor's degree in
interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston, where she
graduated cum laude, a master's degree in education from Prairie
View A&M, and additional studies in educational leadership and
cultural issues at the University of St. Thomas; and
WHEREAS, This veteran educator has extensive experience in
the classroom and as an administrator; she started as a teacher with
the Aldine Independent School District in 1994 and went on to serve
as an assistant principal for grades six through eight in the Klein
ISD; since 2008, she has been the director of instruction for
Campbell Middle School in the Cy-Fair ISD; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Cloud has authored or coauthored a long list of
educational articles and has received numerous scholarship awards
and the Galaxy of Excellence award from Klein ISD; moreover, she has
shared her expertise with others by teaching workshops and by
serving on a range of educational committees; and
WHEREAS, An esteemed professional and scholar, Michelle
Cloud has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to excellence
throughout her academic and teaching career, and it is a pleasure to
join in celebrating the conclusion of her doctoral studies; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Michelle A. Cloud on receiving a
Ph.D. in educational administration from Prairie View A&M
University and extend to her sincere best wishes for success in the
years ahead; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Cloud as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
