| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |

| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Bruce and Shirley Shoquist of Rockwall |

| 7 | 7 | | celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 19, 2008; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Shoquist met at Denison University in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Ohio and were united in matrimony on that special day in 1958; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | has been made even richer with the addition of four children, Sheri, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Steve, Stacy, and Shannon, and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Todd, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Macall, Corbin, Cody, Katie, and Knox; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Following his service as a lieutenant in the U.S. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Marine Corps, Mr. Shoquist worked for 40 years in medical sales; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Mrs. Shoquist taught 11th grade English for two decades before her |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | retirement; they are active members of Lake Pointe Church in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Rockwall and enjoy traveling and spending time with family and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | friends; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | world during the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bruce and Shirley Shoquist on the |

| 27 | 27 | | occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them |

| 28 | 28 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
