 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
 by a great and enduring love, Bruce and Shirley Shoquist of Rockwall
 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 19, 2008; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Shoquist met at Denison University in
 Ohio and were united in matrimony on that special day in 1958;
 through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that
 has been made even richer with the addition of four children, Sheri,
 Steve, Stacy, and Shannon, and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Todd,
 Macall, Corbin, Cody, Katie, and Knox; and
 WHEREAS, Following his service as a lieutenant in the U.S.
 Marine Corps, Mr. Shoquist worked for 40 years in medical sales;
 Mrs. Shoquist taught 11th grade English for two decades before her
 retirement; they are active members of Lake Pointe Church in
 Rockwall and enjoy traveling and spending time with family and
 friends; and
 WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
 world during the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife
 have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the
 strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
 with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Bruce and Shirley Shoquist on the
 occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them
 sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shoquist as an expression of high regard
 by the Texas House of Representatives.
