 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
 death of Dr. Milton Covell, Jr., of Pasadena, who passed on March
 20, 2009, at the age of 91; and
 WHEREAS, Born on November 29, 1917, to Milton and Alma Covell
 in Galveston, Milton Covell began practicing optometry in the
 Pasadena area in 1944; he and his beloved wife, Dorothy, shared a
 marriage that spanned more than six decades, and they raised a
 family of three children who cherish his legacy of goodness and
 service; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Covell belonged to the Harris County Optometry
 Society, the Texas Optometric Association, and the American
 Optometric Association, and he had served as a director for First
 Pasadena State Bank and Southmore Savings and Loan; and
 WHEREAS, He was a member of the Pasadena Rotary Club for 65
 years and the first Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council
 3700; a lector, Eucharistic minister, and religious educator for
 St. Pius Catholic Church, he also helped deliver communion to
 homebound congregants and participated enthusiastically in the
 Serra Club; and
 WHEREAS, Milton Covell had a passion for books and a love for
 the Texas beaches; he was a happy whistler and a man of the times who
 enjoyed his computer; he will be deeply missed, but he leaves behind
 a wealth of memories to be treasured forever by all who held him
 dear; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Milton Covell,
 Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
 his wife, Dorothy; to his children, Dr. Paul Covell and his wife,
 Joan, Sue Piwonka and her husband, Mark, and Mark Covell and his
 wife, Karen; to his grandchildren, Brian, Katie, and Michael
 Covell, Laura Covell Anderson and her husband, Brian, Robert and
 Alex Piwonka, and Christina and Sara Covell; to his sisters, Nora
 Inglish and her husband, Jim, and Eleanor Gardea; and to his other
 relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Milton
 Covell, Jr.
