44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A quality education is the foundation of future
66 success, and J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson provides area
77 students with a well-rounded curriculum and ample opportunities to
88 develop their individual skills and talents; and
99 WHEREAS, Serving a population of 1,970 youth, this notable
1010 institution is one of four high schools in the Richardson
1111 Independent School District; led by principal Karen Neal, Pearce
1212 High School seeks to realize the vision of Richardson ISD to educate
1313 each student in an academically excellent, individually
1414 responsive, innovative, and inclusive learning community; and
1515 WHEREAS, Pearce High School students receive rigorous
1616 instruction in reading, math, writing, science, social studies, and
1717 other scholastic disciplines, and they also enhance their
1818 educational experience by taking part in such organizations as the
1919 Chess Club, Future Community Leaders of America, Mock Trial, and
2020 Texas Future Music Educators; and
2121 WHEREAS, The dedicated efforts of its students and teachers
2222 have earned Pearce High School notable accolades, including a Texas
2323 Business and Education Coalition Award, a Community Service Award
2424 from Meadows Foundation, and a Top 10 High Schools designation from
2525 D magazine, and in 2009, six of its students were named National
2626 Merit finalists; and
2727 WHEREAS, With its commitment to the academic progress and
2828 intellectual development of young Texans, J. J. Pearce High School
2929 encourages its students to work diligently toward becoming
3030 productive citizens of the Lone Star State, and all those
3131 associated with the institution may indeed take pride in the
3232 positive impact it has had on the community; now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3434 Legislature hereby honor J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson for
3535 its achievements and contributions and extend sincere best wishes
3636 for continued success to its students, faculty, administrators, and
3737 staff; and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3939 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4040 House of Representatives.
