5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A quality education is the foundation of future |

6 | 6 | | success, and J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson provides area |

7 | 7 | | students with a well-rounded curriculum and ample opportunities to |

8 | 8 | | develop their individual skills and talents; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Serving a population of 1,970 youth, this notable |
---|
10 | 10 | | institution is one of four high schools in the Richardson |
---|
11 | 11 | | Independent School District; led by principal Karen Neal, Pearce |
---|
12 | 12 | | High School seeks to realize the vision of Richardson ISD to educate |
---|
13 | 13 | | each student in an academically excellent, individually |
---|
14 | 14 | | responsive, innovative, and inclusive learning community; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Pearce High School students receive rigorous |
---|
16 | 16 | | instruction in reading, math, writing, science, social studies, and |
---|
17 | 17 | | other scholastic disciplines, and they also enhance their |
---|
18 | 18 | | educational experience by taking part in such organizations as the |
---|
19 | 19 | | Chess Club, Future Community Leaders of America, Mock Trial, and |

20 | 20 | | Texas Future Music Educators; and |

21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated efforts of its students and teachers |

22 | 22 | | have earned Pearce High School notable accolades, including a Texas |

23 | 23 | | Business and Education Coalition Award, a Community Service Award |

24 | 24 | | from Meadows Foundation, and a Top 10 High Schools designation from |

25 | 25 | | D magazine, and in 2009, six of its students were named National |
---|
26 | 26 | | Merit finalists; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, With its commitment to the academic progress and |
---|
28 | 28 | | intellectual development of young Texans, J. J. Pearce High School |

29 | 29 | | encourages its students to work diligently toward becoming |
---|
30 | 30 | | productive citizens of the Lone Star State, and all those |
---|
31 | 31 | | associated with the institution may indeed take pride in the |
---|
32 | 32 | | positive impact it has had on the community; now, therefore, be it |

33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby honor J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson for |

35 | 35 | | its achievements and contributions and extend sincere best wishes |
