H.R. No. 1218 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A quality education is the foundation of future success, and J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson provides area students with a well-rounded curriculum and ample opportunities to develop their individual skills and talents; and WHEREAS, Serving a population of 1,970 youth, this notable institution is one of four high schools in the Richardson Independent School District; led by principal Karen Neal, Pearce High School seeks to realize the vision of Richardson ISD to educate each student in an academically excellent, individually responsive, innovative, and inclusive learning community; and WHEREAS, Pearce High School students receive rigorous instruction in reading, math, writing, science, social studies, and other scholastic disciplines, and they also enhance their educational experience by taking part in such organizations as the Chess Club, Future Community Leaders of America, Mock Trial, and Texas Future Music Educators; and WHEREAS, The dedicated efforts of its students and teachers have earned Pearce High School notable accolades, including a Texas Business and Education Coalition Award, a Community Service Award from Meadows Foundation, and a Top 10 High Schools designation from D magazine, and in 2009, six of its students were named National Merit finalists; and WHEREAS, With its commitment to the academic progress and intellectual development of young Texans, J. J. Pearce High School encourages its students to work diligently toward becoming productive citizens of the Lone Star State, and all those associated with the institution may indeed take pride in the positive impact it has had on the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson for its achievements and contributions and extend sincere best wishes for continued success to its students, faculty, administrators, and staff; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
