| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The outstanding staff of Dobie Primary Elementary |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | School have made great strides in their mission to help children |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | become lifelong learners and achieve academic success through |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | family participation and community support; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Located in North Dallas, Dobie Primary was |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | established in 1968 to serve students of Richardson ISD; through |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the years, the school's population has grown and diversified, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the institution, under the able leadership of principal Kay |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Reynolds, now offers prekindergarten, kindergarten, Even Start, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and a preschool program for children with disabilities; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Today, families of students enrolled at Dobie |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Primary speak 30 different languages and dialects; more than 80 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | percent of the children speak only Spanish and attend bilingual |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | classes in an effort to achieve English fluency; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Recognizing the important role parents play in their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | children's education, Dobie Primary holds ESL classes two nights |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | each week for more than 300 parents and children, while an |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | additional 100 mothers and fathers attend daytime classes in the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Dobie Family Literacy Center; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Dobie Primary is justifiably proud that the majority |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of its Early Childhood faculty speak more than one language and that |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | their commendable efforts have contributed to a substantial |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | reduction in the mobility rate of students in the last decade; staff |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | members also ensure that all children eat breakfast each day, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | providing them with a proper nutritional regimen to promote |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | effective learning; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, By embracing and adapting to the diversity of its |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | students, Dobie Primary is providing Texas youth with a pathway to a |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | promising future, illuminated by the joy of learning, paved by |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | knowledge, and marked by accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby honor Dobie Primary Elementary School for its |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | service to the North Dallas community and extend to its |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | administration, faculty, and staff sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | continued success with their important work; and, be it further |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
