| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since 2007, Dr. Jacqueline O. Dansby has |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | distinguished herself as president of the San Antonio Women's Hall |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Fame, and it is indeed a pleasure to join the members of that |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | notable organization in paying tribute to this outstanding civic |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | leader; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame was founded in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1984 by Dr. Gloria Jo Floyd, the vice chair of the Governor's |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Commission for Women who had also helped establish the Texas |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Women's Hall of Fame; since that time, the organization has |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | extended its membership to more than 300 women who have |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | demonstrated exemplary efforts in serving their communities, and it |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | has sought to fulfill its mission to provide educational |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | scholarships to deserving high school students, as well as women |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | who have left the workforce to pursue degrees; inducted in 1999, Dr. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Dansby has remained committed to the Women's Hall of Fame, serving |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | as vice president of the board of directors and chair of the Honoree |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Selection Committee before being elected president, and she has |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | guided the organization through such events as its 25th anniversary |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | celebration; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Dansby grew up in the Alamo City and holds a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | doctoral degree in higher education administration from Texas A&M |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | University; she has directed Upward Bound at St. Mary's University |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | in San Antonio, a program that helps to prepare students for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | college, and she has shared her expertise with the Alamo Chamber of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Commerce as an education adviser through its African American |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Leadership Institute; Dr. Dansby has also served as the San Antonio |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | director of the Black Former Student Network of Texas A&M |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | University, and she has worked with both St. Mary's University and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Palo Alto College as an adjunct faculty member; and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, With the utmost dedication and selflessness, Dr. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Dansby has helped bring vital opportunities in higher education to |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | the members of her community, and she is inspiration to all those |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. Jacqueline O. Dansby for her |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | contributions to the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame and extend to |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, |
