 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Since 2007, Dr. Jacqueline O. Dansby has
 distinguished herself as president of the San Antonio Women's Hall
 of Fame, and it is indeed a pleasure to join the members of that
 notable organization in paying tribute to this outstanding civic
 leader; and
 WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame was founded in
 1984 by Dr. Gloria Jo Floyd, the vice chair of the Governor's
 Commission for Women who had also helped establish the Texas
 Women's Hall of Fame; since that time, the organization has
 extended its membership to more than 300 women who have
 demonstrated exemplary efforts in serving their communities, and it
 has sought to fulfill its mission to provide educational
 scholarships to deserving high school students, as well as women
 who have left the workforce to pursue degrees; inducted in 1999, Dr.
 Dansby has remained committed to the Women's Hall of Fame, serving
 as vice president of the board of directors and chair of the Honoree
 Selection Committee before being elected president, and she has
 guided the organization through such events as its 25th anniversary
 celebration; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Dansby grew up in the Alamo City and holds a
 doctoral degree in higher education administration from Texas A&M
 University; she has directed Upward Bound at St. Mary's University
 in San Antonio, a program that helps to prepare students for
 college, and she has shared her expertise with the Alamo Chamber of
 Commerce as an education adviser through its African American
 Leadership Institute; Dr. Dansby has also served as the San Antonio
 director of the Black Former Student Network of Texas A&M
 University, and she has worked with both St. Mary's University and
 Palo Alto College as an adjunct faculty member; and
 WHEREAS, With the utmost dedication and selflessness, Dr.
 Dansby has helped bring vital opportunities in higher education to
 the members of her community, and she is inspiration to all those
 who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Dr. Jacqueline O. Dansby for her
 contributions to the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame and extend to
 her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Dansby as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
