| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The third annual Oak Cliff Earth Day celebration is |

| 6 | 6 | | being held at Lake Cliff Park in Dallas on April 19, 2009; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding community event is coordinated by |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | area volunteers, with generous sponsorship by the City of Dallas |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Parks Department; a wide array of garden, conservation, civic, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | government, and other groups will be represented at the festival, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | which is designed to promote environmental awareness and encourage |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | citizens to become knowledgeable stewards of our planet; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The 2008 Oak Cliff Earth Day featured 120 exhibitors |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and drew 6,000 attendees; in recognition of the excellent program |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | planned for the occasion and the large number of people who |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | participated, the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce honored the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | organizing committee for last year's event with its Quality of Life |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | award; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Texans everywhere have a vital stake in the health |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of our environment, and Oak Cliff Earth Day is helping to inform and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | motivate citizens in behalf of a most worthy cause, while fostering |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | a deeper appreciation for the astonishing wonders of the natural |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | world; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the celebration of Oak Cliff Earth |

| 26 | 26 | | Day 2009 and extend to all those associated with this stellar event |

| 27 | 27 | | sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
