7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Under TEA's accountability rating system for the |

8 | 8 | | state's public schools and districts, a campus gains "Exemplary" |

9 | 9 | | status if at least 90 percent of its students pass each of the Texas |
---|
10 | 10 | | Assessment of Knowledge and Skills subject area tests, and in 2008 |

11 | 11 | | only 12 percent of all schools earned this notable distinction; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, HSA-Fort Worth, a charter school, received a gold |
---|
13 | 13 | | performance acknowledgment in reading, writing, science, and |
---|
14 | 14 | | social studies; its students have also excelled in recent academic |
---|
15 | 15 | | competitions: at the Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering |
---|
16 | 16 | | Fair, they brought their school the first-place Martha Hickey Award |

17 | 17 | | by winning a total of 50 individual awards; 22 of the students |
---|
18 | 18 | | qualified to move on to the statewide competition, and 3 teachers |

19 | 19 | | were recognized for their success in encouraging participation in |

20 | 20 | | the fair; HSA-FW students also won several division awards and |

21 | 21 | | special awards at the Exxon Mobil State Science and Engineering |

23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In addition, the middle school robotics team, making |

24 | 24 | | its inaugural appearance at the North Texas FIRST LEGO League |

25 | 25 | | Championship, won first place at its level in the robot design |

26 | 26 | | category and placed second in robot performance; subsequently, the |
---|
27 | 27 | | team was invited to Southern Methodist University to showcase its |
---|
28 | 28 | | robot at a tech expo; the HSA-FW Science Olympiad team made a fine |
---|
29 | 29 | | showing at the Tarleton State University Regional Science Olympiad |
---|
30 | 30 | | for the third year in a row; and |

31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Harmony Science |

32 | 32 | | Academy-Fort Worth have demonstrated outstanding dedication and |

33 | 33 | | perseverance in their pursuit of academic excellence, and they may |

34 | 34 | | take justifiable pride in the prestigious accolade their school has |
---|
35 | 35 | | received from the State of Texas and in their many other |
---|
36 | 36 | | accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |

37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby honor Harmony Science Academy-Fort Worth on its |
