 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Harmony Science Academy-Fort Worth was awarded
 "Exemplary" status by the Texas Education Agency in 2008; and
 WHEREAS, Under TEA's accountability rating system for the
 state's public schools and districts, a campus gains "Exemplary"
 status if at least 90 percent of its students pass each of the Texas
 Assessment of Knowledge and Skills subject area tests, and in 2008
 only 12 percent of all schools earned this notable distinction; and
 WHEREAS, HSA-Fort Worth, a charter school, received a gold
 performance acknowledgment in reading, writing, science, and
 social studies; its students have also excelled in recent academic
 competitions: at the Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering
 Fair, they brought their school the first-place Martha Hickey Award
 by winning a total of 50 individual awards; 22 of the students
 qualified to move on to the statewide competition, and 3 teachers
 were recognized for their success in encouraging participation in
 the fair; HSA-FW students also won several division awards and
 special awards at the Exxon Mobil State Science and Engineering
 Fair in San Antonio; and
 WHEREAS, In addition, the middle school robotics team, making
 its inaugural appearance at the North Texas FIRST LEGO League
 Championship, won first place at its level in the robot design
 category and placed second in robot performance; subsequently, the
 team was invited to Southern Methodist University to showcase its
 robot at a tech expo; the HSA-FW Science Olympiad team made a fine
 showing at the Tarleton State University Regional Science Olympiad
 for the third year in a row; and
 WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Harmony Science
 Academy-Fort Worth have demonstrated outstanding dedication and
 perseverance in their pursuit of academic excellence, and they may
 take justifiable pride in the prestigious accolade their school has
 received from the State of Texas and in their many other
 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Harmony Science Academy-Fort Worth on its
 achievement of an "Exemplary" rating from the Texas Education
 Agency in 2008 and extend to its students, teachers, and staff
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
