H.R. No. 1290 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Ronnie Scrima has earned the Boy Scouts' Heroism Award for saving a man's life in March 2008; and WHEREAS, Now a junior at Tyler Street Christian Academy in Dallas, Mr. Scrima was living in Arlington at the time; while he was getting his hair cut one day, one of the other customers, an elderly man, stopped breathing; and WHEREAS, Those around the gentleman called out in panic for anyone who knew cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and Mr. Scrima, a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 235 in Arlington, immediately volunteered to help; and WHEREAS, Mr. Scrima, who earned one of his first Boy Scout merit badges in first aid, quickly and skillfully revived the man, and he continued to take care of him until the paramedics arrived; and WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan's composure, compassion, and mastery of an important lifesaving skill enabled him to provide vital assistance to someone in need, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Ronnie Scrima on his receipt of the Boy Scouts' Heroism Award and extend to him sincere best wishes for a bright future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Scrima as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
