| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Private First Class Gilbert Segura of Alice has |

| 6 | 6 | | rendered valiant service in Iraq as a member of the United States |

| 7 | 7 | | Army; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, An alumnus of Alice High School, Private Segura |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | joined the U.S. Army shortly after he graduated in 2007; while he |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | was stationed in Scania, Iraq, he served as a gunner; he completed |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | his first tour of duty and returned home to Alice on February 16, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 2009; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This dedicated soldier enjoys the love and support |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of his relatives, Andy and Juanita Chavarria, Andres Chavarria III, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Jessica Chavarria, and Monica Chavarria, and his many friends; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to this country's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | servicemen and servicewomen, for they are called on to bear great, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | often unimaginable, burdens, and their service and sacrifice are |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | truly beyond measure; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In answering his nation's call to duty, Private |

| 21 | 21 | | Segura has demonstrated extraordinary commitment and bravery, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | it is indeed a privilege to welcome him back to the Lone Star State; |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby honor Private First Class Gilbert Segura for his |
