55 WHEREAS, Private First Class Gilbert Segura of Alice has
66 rendered valiant service in Iraq as a member of the United States
77 Army; and
88 WHEREAS, An alumnus of Alice High School, Private Segura
99 joined the U.S. Army shortly after he graduated in 2007; while he
1010 was stationed in Scania, Iraq, he served as a gunner; he completed
1111 his first tour of duty and returned home to Alice on February 16,
1212 2009; and
1313 WHEREAS, This dedicated soldier enjoys the love and support
1414 of his relatives, Andy and Juanita Chavarria, Andres Chavarria III,
1515 Jessica Chavarria, and Monica Chavarria, and his many friends; and
1616 WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to this country's
1717 servicemen and servicewomen, for they are called on to bear great,
1818 often unimaginable, burdens, and their service and sacrifice are
1919 truly beyond measure; and
2020 WHEREAS, In answering his nation's call to duty, Private
2121 Segura has demonstrated extraordinary commitment and bravery, and
2222 it is indeed a privilege to welcome him back to the Lone Star State;
2323 now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby honor Private First Class Gilbert Segura for his
2626 courageous service to his country and extend to him sincere best
2727 wishes for the future; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for Private Segura as an expression of high regard by the
3030 Texas House of Representatives.
