No. 1331 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Private First Class Gilbert Segura of Alice has rendered valiant service in Iraq as a member of the United States Army; and WHEREAS, An alumnus of Alice High School, Private Segura joined the U.S. Army shortly after he graduated in 2007; while he was stationed in Scania, Iraq, he served as a gunner; he completed his first tour of duty and returned home to Alice on February 16, 2009; and WHEREAS, This dedicated soldier enjoys the love and support of his relatives, Andy and Juanita Chavarria, Andres Chavarria III, Jessica Chavarria, and Monica Chavarria, and his many friends; and WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to this country's servicemen and servicewomen, for they are called on to bear great, often unimaginable, burdens, and their service and sacrifice are truly beyond measure; and WHEREAS, In answering his nation's call to duty, Private Segura has demonstrated extraordinary commitment and bravery, and it is indeed a privilege to welcome him back to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Private First Class Gilbert Segura for his courageous service to his country and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Private Segura as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
