5	5	WHEREAS, Business and civic leader Gene Allen of Kerrville
6	6	was appointed to the Texas Funeral Service Commission by Governor
7	7	Rick Perry in February 2009; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Serving a six-year term that will end in 2015,
9	9	Mr. Allen will help to oversee the licensing of funeral directors
10	10	and embalmers; members of the commission also enforce compliance
11	11	with state regulations concerning funeral homes, cemeteries, and
12	12	crematories; and
13	13	WHEREAS, After 20 years in the oil and gas industry in West
14	14	Texas, Mr. Allen began working in the funeral industry in
15	15	Levelland; he took ownership of the Kerrville Funeral Home in 2001;
16	16	and
17	17	WHEREAS, This outstanding professional has served as
18	18	president of the Hill Country Funeral Directors Association and
19	19	director of the South Central Region of the Texas Funeral Directors
20	20	Association; he has also served on the membership resource
21	21	committee of the National Funeral Directors Association, and he is
22	22	a member of the Funeral Ethics Association, the American Society of
23	23	Embalmers, and the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral
24	24	Association; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Mr. Allen also has a distinguished history of
26	26	service to his community; he was a Levelland city councilman for
27	27	three terms, and in Kerrville he has served as president of the
28	28	Kerrville Host Lions Club and as a board member of the Haven in the
29	29	Texas Hill Country Alzheimer's care center, the K'Star Youth
30	30	Shelter, and the Hill Country chapter of the American Red Cross,
31	31	among other organizations; and
32	32	WHEREAS, The oversight of the funeral industry in Texas
33	33	relies on the service of dedicated and public-spirited individuals,
34	34	and Gene Allen has long proven himself to be an outstanding member
35	35	of his profession and a leader in his community; now, therefore, be
36	36	it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
38	38	Legislature hereby congratulate Gene Allen on his appointment to
39	39	the Texas Funeral Service Commission and extend to him sincere best
40	40	wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
41	41	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
42	42	prepared for Mr. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
43	43	House of Representatives.
