| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Upton County Commissioners Court and the people |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Upton County are celebrating the opening of the new West Texas |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Centers for MHMR Mental Health Center in McCamey on April 15, 2009; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, West Texas Centers for MHMR is a community agency |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | that serves as the designated authority for the care of mental |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | health and mental retardation in 22 rural counties in West Texas; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | there are 15 local clinics throughout the region; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Each local clinic's services include evaluation, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | management, and counseling for adults' and children's mental |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | health, day programs and employment assistance for persons with |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | mental disabilities, and the Little Lives Early Childhood |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Intervention Program; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In 2006, the Upton County Commissioners Court |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | allocated funds for a larger building for the MHMR center in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | McCamey, which serves patients in Upton, Terrell, and Crane |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Counties; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The center's new facility will house a full-time |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | staff as well as employees who rotate between various clinics in the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | region; the larger building and its renovations will provide more |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | space for the center's functions and more privacy for its clients; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Led by Upton County Judge Vikki Bradley, who serves |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | on the West Texas Centers board of trustees, the Upton County |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Commissioners Court includes commissioners Gary "Pete" Jackson, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Tommy Owens, Willie Martinez, and Leon Patrick; together, they have |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | helped to improve and enhance a vital service for many Texans in |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | need, and they may take great pride in their role in the creation of |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | this new facility; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Upton County Commissioners |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Court on the opening of the new West Texas Centers for MHMR Mental |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Health Center in McCamey and extend to the commissioners sincere |

| 38 | 38 | | best wishes for continued success in their important duties; and, |
