44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Joshua Redwine, a senior at Earl Warren High School
66 in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar finalist in the
77 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; and
88 WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National
99 Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who
1010 score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying
1111 Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and
1212 WHEREAS, The son of Jackie Redwine, this outstanding young
1313 Texan is active in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor
1414 Society, Texas Academic Decathlon, and Mu Alpha Theta mathematics
1515 honor society; he also participates in the Interact Club, a
1616 community service organization at Warren High School; and
1717 WHEREAS, Mr. Redwine has garnered many distinctions over the
1818 course of his scholastic career, including a runner-up finish in
1919 the social science event in the Texas Academic Decathlon state
2020 competition; he is a National Merit Commended Student, a Quest
2121 Scholar, an AP Scholar, and a San Antonio Freemasons Scholar; a
2222 dedicated student, Mr. Redwine has earned an impressive grade point
2323 average of 96.95 and is the recipient of a full scholarship to Rice
2424 University from the QuestBridge Program; and
2525 WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his
2626 life, Joshua Redwine may indeed reflect with pride on his numerous
2727 accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright and
2828 promising future; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3030 Legislature hereby congratulate Joshua Redwine on his selection as
3131 a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition
3232 Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
3333 success; and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for Mr. Redwine as an expression of high regard by the
3636 Texas House of Representatives.
