| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Joshua Redwine, a senior at Earl Warren High School |

| 6 | 6 | | in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar finalist in the |

| 7 | 7 | | 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jackie Redwine, this outstanding young |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Texan is active in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Society, Texas Academic Decathlon, and Mu Alpha Theta mathematics |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | honor society; he also participates in the Interact Club, a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | community service organization at Warren High School; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Redwine has garnered many distinctions over the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | course of his scholastic career, including a runner-up finish in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the social science event in the Texas Academic Decathlon state |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | competition; he is a National Merit Commended Student, a Quest |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Scholar, an AP Scholar, and a San Antonio Freemasons Scholar; a |

| 22 | 22 | | dedicated student, Mr. Redwine has earned an impressive grade point |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | average of 96.95 and is the recipient of a full scholarship to Rice |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | University from the QuestBridge Program; and |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his |

| 26 | 26 | | life, Joshua Redwine may indeed reflect with pride on his numerous |

| 27 | 27 | | accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | promising future; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
