H.R. No. 1370 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Joshua Redwine, a senior at Earl Warren High School in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; and WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and WHEREAS, The son of Jackie Redwine, this outstanding young Texan is active in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Texas Academic Decathlon, and Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor society; he also participates in the Interact Club, a community service organization at Warren High School; and WHEREAS, Mr. Redwine has garnered many distinctions over the course of his scholastic career, including a runner-up finish in the social science event in the Texas Academic Decathlon state competition; he is a National Merit Commended Student, a Quest Scholar, an AP Scholar, and a San Antonio Freemasons Scholar; a dedicated student, Mr. Redwine has earned an impressive grade point average of 96.95 and is the recipient of a full scholarship to Rice University from the QuestBridge Program; and WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his life, Joshua Redwine may indeed reflect with pride on his numerous accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright and promising future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Joshua Redwine on his selection as a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Redwine as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
