| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |

| 6 | 6 | | at the death of U.S. Army Corporal Javier G. Paredes of San Antonio, |

| 7 | 7 | | who died in Iraq on September 5, 2007, at the age of 24; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Javier Paredes was |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | killed in Baghdad while bravely attempting to rescue a fellow |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | soldier; trained as a medic, he provided essential care for the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | members of his battalion; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Corporal Paredes was a former resident of the Hill |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Country Youth Ranch in Ingram and a 2002 graduate of Ingram Tom |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Moore High School; he worked for a time in construction and as an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | employee of Central Market in San Antonio, where he impressed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | others with his diligence and his cheerful and caring nature; he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | joined the army in 2004 and was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and the Purple Heart; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. Armed |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Forces, Javier Paredes inspired others with his courage, strength, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and compassion; although his death has left a void in the lives of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | those who knew him, they may take comfort in their memories of this |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | admirable and heroic young man who gave his life in service to his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | country; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Corporal |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Javier G. Paredes and extend sincere sympathy to his many loved ones |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and friends; and, be it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
