H.R. No. 1400 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt at the death of U.S. Army Corporal Javier G. Paredes of San Antonio, who died in Iraq on September 5, 2007, at the age of 24; and WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Javier Paredes was killed in Baghdad while bravely attempting to rescue a fellow soldier; trained as a medic, he provided essential care for the members of his battalion; and WHEREAS, Corporal Paredes was a former resident of the Hill Country Youth Ranch in Ingram and a 2002 graduate of Ingram Tom Moore High School; he worked for a time in construction and as an employee of Central Market in San Antonio, where he impressed others with his diligence and his cheerful and caring nature; he joined the army in 2004 and was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart; and WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. Armed Forces, Javier Paredes inspired others with his courage, strength, and compassion; although his death has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, they may take comfort in their memories of this admirable and heroic young man who gave his life in service to his country; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Corporal Javier G. Paredes and extend sincere sympathy to his many loved ones and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Javier G.
