| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Members of the El Paso chapter of Project Linus have |

| 6 | 6 | | given generously of their time and talents to bring comfort to young |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Texans; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Project Linus is a program that provides security |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | blankets to children who are seriously ill or traumatized; started |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | nationally in 1995, this visionary organization has delivered more |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | than 2,600,000 blankets since its inception; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Founded in July 2002, the El Paso chapter holds |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | monthly meetings and members quilt, crochet, and knit new blankets |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and afghans; the group then distributes these items to children in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | area hospitals, shelters, and social service agencies, or anywhere |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | that a child might be in need of a big hug; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to addressing the emotional and physical |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | needs of the most vulnerable in society, the El Paso chapter of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Project Linus provides members with a rewarding and fun service |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | opportunity; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Project Linus provides an invaluable community |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | resource; its members have benefited many lives, and they truly |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | merit special recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commend the El Paso chapter of Project Linus for |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | its efforts in behalf of children in need and extend to its members |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | work; and, be it further |
