44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Members of the El Paso chapter of Project Linus have
66 given generously of their time and talents to bring comfort to young
77 Texans; and
88 WHEREAS, Project Linus is a program that provides security
99 blankets to children who are seriously ill or traumatized; started
1010 nationally in 1995, this visionary organization has delivered more
1111 than 2,600,000 blankets since its inception; and
1212 WHEREAS, Founded in July 2002, the El Paso chapter holds
1313 monthly meetings and members quilt, crochet, and knit new blankets
1414 and afghans; the group then distributes these items to children in
1515 area hospitals, shelters, and social service agencies, or anywhere
1616 that a child might be in need of a big hug; and
1717 WHEREAS, In addition to addressing the emotional and physical
1818 needs of the most vulnerable in society, the El Paso chapter of
1919 Project Linus provides members with a rewarding and fun service
2020 opportunity; and
2121 WHEREAS, Project Linus provides an invaluable community
2222 resource; its members have benefited many lives, and they truly
2323 merit special recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby commend the El Paso chapter of Project Linus for
2626 its efforts in behalf of children in need and extend to its members
2727 sincere best wishes for continued success with their important
2828 work; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3131 House of Representatives.
