H.R. No. 1408 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Members of the El Paso chapter of Project Linus have given generously of their time and talents to bring comfort to young Texans; and WHEREAS, Project Linus is a program that provides security blankets to children who are seriously ill or traumatized; started nationally in 1995, this visionary organization has delivered more than 2,600,000 blankets since its inception; and WHEREAS, Founded in July 2002, the El Paso chapter holds monthly meetings and members quilt, crochet, and knit new blankets and afghans; the group then distributes these items to children in area hospitals, shelters, and social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug; and WHEREAS, In addition to addressing the emotional and physical needs of the most vulnerable in society, the El Paso chapter of Project Linus provides members with a rewarding and fun service opportunity; and WHEREAS, Project Linus provides an invaluable community resource; its members have benefited many lives, and they truly merit special recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend the El Paso chapter of Project Linus for its efforts in behalf of children in need and extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success with their important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
