| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Members of Cumberland Presbyterian Church of |

| 6 | 6 | | Marshall are joining together on April 26, 2009, to pay tribute to |

| 7 | 7 | | Elsie Juanita Pugh, who has served as the church pianist and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | accompanist for 50 years; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A lifetime resident of Marshall, Mrs. Pugh was born |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | on April 22, 1939; she graduated from Marshall High School, where |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | she played piano for the choir and was president of Future Teachers |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of America, reporter of the student council, and editor-in-chief of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the yearbook; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This fine musician was the pianist with Fairview |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Baptist Church of Marshall before she married Richard Irvin Pugh 50 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | years ago and transferred her membership to Cumberland Presbyterian |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Church; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, An active member of the church, she has served as |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | treasurer of the Women's Ministry and chair of the Bonnie Mae Pugh |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Circle; she also holds a life membership in the Women's Missionary |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Society; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Professionally, Mrs. Pugh worked as chief deputy in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Harrison County District Clerk's Office from 1989 to 1999; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | above all else, she has been a devoted wife to her husband, Richard, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | nurturing mother of their two children, Todd and Penny, and doting |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | grandmother of Katie, Travis, and Courtney; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through her music, Elsie Pugh brings great joy and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | beauty into the lives of her fellow congregants at Cumberland |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Presbyterian Church, and her talent and dedicated service are truly |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | worthy of special recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby recognize April 26, 2009, as Elsie Pugh Day and |

| 33 | 33 | | extend to Mrs. Pugh sincere best wishes for continued happiness; |
