44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The Reverend Edward Triem is celebrating 50 years in
66 the ministry in 2009, and this anniversary offers a fitting
77 opportunity to honor him and acknowledge his exemplary career; and
88 WHEREAS, A graduate of the College of Wooster, in Ohio,
99 Reverend Triem earned his master's of divinity degree from
1010 Princeton Theological Seminary and pursued graduate studies at the
1111 Institute of Religion in Houston; he gained experience as a youth
1212 minister with the First Presbyterian Church of Perth Amboy, New
1313 Jersey, and went on to serve as a counselor in Peekskill and New
1414 York City, and as a chaplain at Memorial Hermann Hospital in
1515 Houston; and
1616 WHEREAS, Reverend Triem has worked with a number of
1717 congregations through the years, including the First Presbyterian
1818 Church of Hoboken, New Jersey, the House of Faith Presbyterian
1919 Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Brenham Presbyterian Church, and
2020 Pine Crest Presbyterian Church in Houston, where his teaching
2121 inspired members for 30 years; and
2222 WHEREAS, Since 2002, Reverend Triem has been pastor of First
2323 Presbyterian Church in Eagle Lake, and his spiritual guidance and
2424 visionary leadership have earned him the lasting respect and
2525 admiration of his congregation; and
2626 WHEREAS, This notable Texan has been honored with a number of
2727 awards for his exceptional efforts, including the titles of Clergy
2828 of the Year by the International Council of Christians and Jews and
2929 Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, as well as
3030 the Martin Luther King, Jr., Community Service Award from Pine
3131 Crest Presbyterian; and
3232 WHEREAS, Reverend Triem has demonstrated a wholehearted
3333 commitment to each church he has led, and his faith and many good
3434 works have been a source of profound inspiration to all who know
3535 him; now, therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3737 Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Edward Triem on his
3838 50th pastoral anniversary and extend to him sincere best wishes for
3939 continued success and fulfillment; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4141 prepared for Reverend Triem as an expression of high regard by the
4242 Texas House of Representatives.
