| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Reverend Edward Triem is celebrating 50 years in |

| 6 | 6 | | the ministry in 2009, and this anniversary offers a fitting |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | opportunity to honor him and acknowledge his exemplary career; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of the College of Wooster, in Ohio, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Reverend Triem earned his master's of divinity degree from |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Princeton Theological Seminary and pursued graduate studies at the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Institute of Religion in Houston; he gained experience as a youth |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | minister with the First Presbyterian Church of Perth Amboy, New |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Jersey, and went on to serve as a counselor in Peekskill and New |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | York City, and as a chaplain at Memorial Hermann Hospital in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Houston; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Reverend Triem has worked with a number of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | congregations through the years, including the First Presbyterian |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Church of Hoboken, New Jersey, the House of Faith Presbyterian |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Brenham Presbyterian Church, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Pine Crest Presbyterian Church in Houston, where his teaching |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | inspired members for 30 years; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Since 2002, Reverend Triem has been pastor of First |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Presbyterian Church in Eagle Lake, and his spiritual guidance and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | visionary leadership have earned him the lasting respect and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | admiration of his congregation; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, This notable Texan has been honored with a number of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | awards for his exceptional efforts, including the titles of Clergy |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of the Year by the International Council of Christians and Jews and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, as well as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the Martin Luther King, Jr., Community Service Award from Pine |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Crest Presbyterian; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Reverend Triem has demonstrated a wholehearted |

| 33 | 33 | | commitment to each church he has led, and his faith and many good |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | works have been a source of profound inspiration to all who know |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | him; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Edward Triem on his |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 50th pastoral anniversary and extend to him sincere best wishes for |

| 39 | 39 | | continued success and fulfillment; and, be it further |
