 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Reverend Edward Triem is celebrating 50 years in
 the ministry in 2009, and this anniversary offers a fitting
 opportunity to honor him and acknowledge his exemplary career; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of the College of Wooster, in Ohio,
 Reverend Triem earned his master's of divinity degree from
 Princeton Theological Seminary and pursued graduate studies at the
 Institute of Religion in Houston; he gained experience as a youth
 minister with the First Presbyterian Church of Perth Amboy, New
 Jersey, and went on to serve as a counselor in Peekskill and New
 York City, and as a chaplain at Memorial Hermann Hospital in
 Houston; and
 WHEREAS, Reverend Triem has worked with a number of
 congregations through the years, including the First Presbyterian
 Church of Hoboken, New Jersey, the House of Faith Presbyterian
 Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Brenham Presbyterian Church, and
 Pine Crest Presbyterian Church in Houston, where his teaching
 inspired members for 30 years; and
 WHEREAS, Since 2002, Reverend Triem has been pastor of First
 Presbyterian Church in Eagle Lake, and his spiritual guidance and
 visionary leadership have earned him the lasting respect and
 admiration of his congregation; and
 WHEREAS, This notable Texan has been honored with a number of
 awards for his exceptional efforts, including the titles of Clergy
 of the Year by the International Council of Christians and Jews and
 Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, as well as
 the Martin Luther King, Jr., Community Service Award from Pine
 Crest Presbyterian; and
 WHEREAS, Reverend Triem has demonstrated a wholehearted
 commitment to each church he has led, and his faith and many good
 works have been a source of profound inspiration to all who know
 him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Edward Triem on his
 50th pastoral anniversary and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 continued success and fulfillment; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Reverend Triem as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
