5	5	WHEREAS, The Diocese of Corpus Christi is holding its first
6	6	annual Chess Team Championships at Central Catholic Elementary
7	7	School on January 31, 2009; and
8	8	WHEREAS, This exciting tournament in Corpus Christi is open
9	9	to Catholic school students in all grades from kindergarten through
10	10	high school; teams participate in one of five sections, K-1,
11	11	primary, elementary, middle, and high school; and
12	12	WHEREAS, The competition has been organized in conjunction
13	13	with Catholic Schools Week 2009, a national celebration of the
14	14	important contributions Catholic schools make to their communities
15	15	and the nation; and
16	16	WHEREAS, Now in its 36th year, the annual observance of
17	17	Catholic Schools Week promotes community awareness of and
18	18	involvement in local Catholic schools, and the Corpus Christi chess
19	19	competition will be an enjoyable and challenging way for area
20	20	students to mark the final day of the weeklong celebration; now,
21	21	therefore, be it
22	22	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
23	23	Legislature hereby recognize January 31, 2009, as Catholic School
24	24	Chess Day in Corpus Christi and extend to the organizers and
25	25	participants sincere best wishes for a memorable event; and, be it
26	26	further
27	27	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
28	28	prepared for the Diocese of Corpus Christi as an expression of high
29	29	regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
