| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Knights of Peter Claver, Inc., Junior Knights |

| 6 | 6 | | and Junior Daughters organization is holding its national |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | convention in Houston from July 10 to 13, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving God, church, and community |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | through charitable service, members of this notable group are |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | contributing immeasurably to their fellow citizens; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Knights of Peter Claver junior division is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | national in scope and strives to meet the interests and needs of its |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | members through spiritual, social, physical, and civic-cultural |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | activities; the goals and objectives are to enhance formal |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | instructional religious training, cultivate poise, and develop |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | physical efficiency, confidence in social situations, and an |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | appreciation of the members' duties as Catholics and as citizens; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Strong support from the church throughout the years |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | has increased the number of junior units nationwide to nearly 400, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | with more than 2,800 Catholic youths between the ages of 7 and 18 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | participating; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The 2009 convention of the Junior Knights and Junior |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Daughters provides a fitting opportunity to recognize these |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | outstanding young Americans and to wish them well in all of their |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | endeavors; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 National Convention of the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Junior Knights and Junior Daughters of the Knights of Peter Claver, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Inc., and extend to all participants sincere best wishes for a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | memorable and meaningful event; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
