H.R. No. 1534
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Knights of Peter Claver, Inc., Junior Knights
and Junior Daughters organization is holding its national
convention in Houston from July 10 to 13, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving God, church, and community
through charitable service, members of this notable group are
contributing immeasurably to their fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, The Knights of Peter Claver junior division is
national in scope and strives to meet the interests and needs of its
members through spiritual, social, physical, and civic-cultural
activities; the goals and objectives are to enhance formal
instructional religious training, cultivate poise, and develop
physical efficiency, confidence in social situations, and an
appreciation of the members' duties as Catholics and as citizens;
and
WHEREAS, Strong support from the church throughout the years
has increased the number of junior units nationwide to nearly 400,
with more than 2,800 Catholic youths between the ages of 7 and 18
participating; and
WHEREAS, The 2009 convention of the Junior Knights and Junior
Daughters provides a fitting opportunity to recognize these
outstanding young Americans and to wish them well in all of their
endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 National Convention of the
Junior Knights and Junior Daughters of the Knights of Peter Claver,
Inc., and extend to all participants sincere best wishes for a
memorable and meaningful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
