| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Olga R. Serna of Sarita has distinguished herself |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | through her service to the community, and her outstanding |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | leadership and generosity of spirit have earned her the heartfelt |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | admiration of all who know her; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Hebbronville, Mrs. Serna settled in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sarita in 1958 with her husband, the late Enemorio Serna, with whom |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | she shared nearly four decades before his passing; through the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | years, she has benefited the Sarita and Riviera school districts |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and the local 4-H, which she served as a leader for 26 years; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Serna has also made a positive difference |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | through her efforts with a number of initiatives designed to help |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | individuals in need; in addition to her work with WIC and a USDA |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | program for the less fortunate, she helped to establish a food stamp |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | program for area residents and founded the Kenedy County Food |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Pantry in 2003; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Also a valued parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Catholic Church, Mrs. Serna is active in the choir and volunteers at |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the yearly festival; she has been supported in all of her endeavors |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | by a loving family that includes three children, Felix, Diana, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Enemorio, and four grandchildren, Dell, Enemorio, Bianca, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Marcella; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Those individuals who step forward to share their |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | time with others are indeed deserving of our profound gratitude, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and it is a pleasure to honor Mrs. Serna, who has enriched the lives |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of countless others with her dedicated community service; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commend Olga R. Serna for her noteworthy service |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | to the people of Sarita and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | the future; and, be it further |
